The project of repair, of a cost of 40,000 Euros, carried by the commune of Saint-Gervais, requires the mobilization of all.

The commune of Ouzilly started the restoration of its church.
-
The Saint-Hilaire church of Ouzilly, rectangular plan, was built at the 12th century, and was modified twice, at the 15th century and in second half 19th century. It is this second campaign which transformed the building deeply: a side, for which the southern Romance wall was largely bored, was added, as well as false semi-circular vaults, built in brick red chalk pits. The frame and the cover were also modified for to allow to include the new side.
The facade and the bell-tower are registered with the Additional Inventory of the Historic buildings since 1933.
The bell-tower, of which the upper part was largely improved at the 19th century, consists of a hexagonal tower resting on two horns of share and of other of the principal frontage. These horns are fissured and in masonries of the tower, of the crossing cracks affect all the faces external. Fasten metal were posed on several occasions inside and outside.
The staircase of access out of screw is located inside. Very many steps are broken and hollowed out. That makes dangerous the rise to the room of the bells.
The belfry, when the bells sound with the flight, knows a movement. Notches in high masonry were practiced to allow the movement of belfry, obviously dangerous provisions.
The overlap of the bell-tower on the principal frontage and the disorders of the frontage make essential an intervention on western the frontage unit and bell-tower.
The major restoration of the bell-tower must be done with the replacement of the defective belfry. The new belfry will be designed not to create pushes in
masonries. Masonries will be restored by a very important change of the many sick or broken stones. Two belts, high and low, will be created to ensure the stability of the bell-tower. A mending of meshes of all the cracks will be accompanied by a singeing of the heart of masonries for their to give again coherence and homogeneity. The stone horns, dangerous, will be restored by stone substitution. The frame will be restored and
remade cover.
The Foundation of the Inheritance supports the project of the commune of Ouzilly by organizing a subscription, which aims to collect funds for safeguard Saint-Hilaire church.
This subscription was officially open on February 12th, 2009.
