After 10 years of life in the Tarn, where they held, already, rooms of hosts, it is today the return to the country for our two old of the Recreational center of Marolles, Michou and Jean-Jacques: the Var, with a new project of rooms of hosts in the countryside.
They decided to settle in the middle of green Provence, to divide, with us all, the softness of the life of Provence, the beauty of the landscape and sun of midday. They await us in new rooms of hosts, in Tavernes, a small village in the countryside, close to Barjols, Brignoles and Saint Maximin.

December 31st, 2008, the shoemender's shop of Marolles en Hurepoix closed its doors. Indeed, after 49 years of exercise of shoemending, it is with a sharp emotion that Mr. Roland DUTOUR took his retreat.
Roland began in September 1959 at the 14 years age as an apprentice with his father, then opened his own shop in 1977. He was thus elevate in this environment (his father was born in Marolles and put himself on its account as a shoe-maker in January 1946). It is for him a true passion. He gives again with the shoe the esthetics and comfort, semellage, sealing, strength properties. In shoemender's shop as in any trade of craft industry, it is necessary to be with the listening of the customers and available.
With 2000 shoe-makers in France, against 5000 7 years ago, this trade requires a great capacity of adaptation and renewal. Indeed this trade evolves with the fashion of the shoes. It is necessary to adapt to the manufacturing methods and materials, and thus to be modernized, while obtaining increasingly powerful machines.
The shoe-makers also have an orthopedic function while trying to correct the defects of postures of certain customers.
However today, shoemending is not enough and it is necessary to diversify its activity. This is why, there are 7 or 8 years, Roland started to make reproduction of keys, then of fine leather goods. That made also more than 18 years that he made deposit of steam pressing in partnership with a professional.
Many people got information but for the moment no candidate signed contract to take again the trade. Roland DUTOUR would wish simply that remains a shop, if possible of service.
We wish a very happy retreat to our shoe-maker and warmly let us thank it for its professionalism, its dynamism and its availability.

Henri Novo, one of the more eminent French Bugatti specialists, has just left us at 88 years old.
In 1928, he does not have which 14 years when he intends for the first time to roar the 8 Bugatti cylinders.
Dice this moment, he will not have of cease to work on these cars. A dream which is concretized when he is engaged at one of the large Parisian dealers of the mark of the time.
After the war, whereas its owner turns to Ford, Henri decides to settle on its account to continue to appease the passion which he carries in Bugatti.
He opens a first garage in Montrouge, then moves a few years later in Vitry. He is at that time one of the rare French specialists in the mark and its garage is always packed.
In the years 1970, he moves again to be established in Marolles en Hurepoix. He associates the services of his Jean son who takes again the torch when the hour of the retirement sounds. But he cannot do without its passion, and benefits from each occasion to pass to the garage.
There are 3 more or 4 years, before the disease definitively does not move away he from there, one could not miss seeing it raising his eternal blouse and the cap screwed on the face, sauntering in the medium of his dear cars.
The disease ended up carrying he, but for us and all his friends, associated the sorrow of his wife, Jean, Frederic, his grandson, and of all his family, his heart will float still a long time under the roof of the garage of the street of Puit de l'Orme.

On the other hand, certain number of famous persons left some picturesque recollections.
Mister Emile LEVASSOR was born to Marolles on January 21st, 1843. Associated to Mister René PANHARD, he based the famous PANHARD and LEVASSOR company in 1886, to exploit DAIMLER's patents.
They built the first motorcar with essence in 1888, which made the crossing of Paris and the route Paris-Nice in 1891.
The first motor race of the history (Paris - Bordeaux - Paris, 1200 km) was gained in 48 hours per Emile LEVASSOR in 1895, and during ten years, the PANHARD and LEVASSOR cars gained practically all the races in which they part.
In 1973, the company PANHARD and LEVASSOR chooses Marolles to implant a factory of assembly of military vehicles.
Between 1930 and 1940, renowned aeronaut Charles DOLLFUS participated in the employers' holiday.
At the same time, godfather and maraine of the every young USM (Sports Union of Marolles) was the famous couple of coarse humour LUAR. They attracted to Marolles the biggest stars of the T.S.F. (the radio of time), such Mario RICCI and Berthe SYLVA. One met at "Grandma's", at present Inn of the Relay.

Maybe, please, remember you this peaceful animal which constituted one of the attractions of the annual holiday of the Children's outdoor activity centre, some years ago ; the glances amazed by the children, a true pleasure !
Having spent 42 years to Marolles, it left us on November 30th, 1997. Its owners, the family Des Garets, intend to replace it for the pleasure of the small and the smile of the big.
It replacement found the meadow known well by all small Marollais. I don't know its name, but, after some worried reactions, it got used to coming near the wire netting to sample the fragments of bread brought by the passers-by. And it takes taste there (but do not misuse : take care of its health).
And, because it was bored, only, a buddy now comes to hold company to it.
