Life of the forest
The museum "A la rencontre des vieux métiers", to Bouray-sur-Juine, exposes more than 2500 tools to hand representing 17 corporate bodies. It is opened the first one and the third weekend of every month.
History :
About Saint-Vrain, please, come out that Madame Du Barry (1743-1793), favourite of Louis XV, bought Saint-Vrain's castle and sttled down there in June, 1775. She resold the domain in October, 1776, and died on the scaffold on December 8th, 1793.
The God of Bouray : a bronze statuette 42 cm high was discovered in 1845 in Juine, to Bouray-sur-Juine. It is exposed to the Museum of the National Antiques to Saint Germain en Laye. It's one of the most beautiful representations of a Gallic God of time Gallo-Romaine.
Remembrances :

But do you know that this obelisk was built in 1750, by Louis Duval de l'Epinois, to remind the work of Cassini during the geometrical description of France. This monument recollection is situated in 2 km of the meridian of Paris.

This obelisk reminds me Juvisy-sur-Orge's pyramid (along the main road 7, not far from the look-out post Camille Flammarion).
This quadrangular building was built in 1740 by the Academy of the Sciences, to immortalize the memory of the abbot Picard, Lacaille and Cassini, who allowed, of this base, precise measure of the length of a ground meridian.
The footnotes of history :
Sanson. This name reminds you at once the famous executioner of the Revolution. He executed Louis XVI. He'd bought Vert-le-Petit's presbytery (national property sold in 1798). The batiment always exists and shelters at present the municipal library.
Chevrier. Name of the bean "always green", the process of conservation of which was invented in 1872, by Gabriel Chevrier (1824-1895), native of Brétigny-sur-Orge.
