Ecole SUPELEC The church Saint-Remi dates the XIIth century, as well as the abbey Notre-Dame du Val de Gif whose some vestiges remain only.
The castle of Buton dates the beginning of the XVIIIth century. It was enlarged by Desmaisons between 1756 and 1771. Gardens were created by a pupil of Le Nôtre. It is the property of the National Centre for Scientific Research since 1949.

The castle of Belleville (on the municipality of Gometz-la-Ville, property of Gif since 1976) was built in the XVIIIth century in quoted by a farm of the XVIIth century. The kitchen garden, of the XVIIIth century, is maintained in the former.

The castle of Val Fleuri dates the XIXth century and belongs to the CEA (Atomic Energy Authority). One also finds, in the municipality, the laundry of Gibeciaux, the Croix Audierne (granite pedestal dated 1712) and the House of Utopia, private property built on the water (on piles and covered with tungsten) by Marc HELD, between 1978 and 1981.

One can walk on the sports path of the Wood of Coudraies and in the urban parks of the center, the Abbey, the castle of Belleville, the Nattée and the Madness Rigault. The site registered of the Valley of Chevreuse includes 229 ha of wooded spaces, 160 ha of green spaces, 14 km of bicycle paths and 40 km pedestrian roads.

Strade Giffoises takes place in spring and in autum. The market takes place in town center, thursday and sunday morning.

Among the famous persons of the municipality, on can quote Alfred FAUCHER who invented the motor rear-view in 1905. In 1972, took place the opening in the Big Lime tree (Gif's ancient ballroom and Fernand Léger's last workshop) peace negotiations of Vietnam. Henri Kissinger assisted by the generals Haig and Sullivan met Le Duc Tho and delegates of Ho Chi Minh.
